MPSC Transfers Ottawa County's 2-1-1 Designation to Community Access Line of the Lakeshore, Inc.

Contact:  Judy Palnau (517) 241-3323

October 25, 2007

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today issued an order transferring Ottawa County's 2-1-1 designation from First Call of Ottawa County to Community Access Line of the Lakeshore, located in Muskegon County. The two entities filed a joint application requesting the transfer on July 20.

The abbreviated dialing number 2-1-1 has been designated by the Federal Communications Commission ( FCC) to enable callers to reach community resource and referral answering points.

Community Access Line of the Lakeshore, Inc. will provide operation of the 2-1-1 telephone number 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The Commission concluded that its approval is provisional, in part, due to the FCC's ability to recall the 2-1-1 number.

The transfer will provide the same 2-1-1 abbreviated dialing to the identical exchanges as prior to the change:

Grand Haven, Holland, Coopersville, Allendale, Borculo, Zeeland, Conklin, Marne, Hudsonville, Drenthe, Jamestown, in addition to the Muskegon County exchanges of Muskegon, Holton, Twin Lake, Ravenna, Whitehall, Fruitport, Casnovia, and Fremont.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.

Case No. U-15348
