The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today designated Community Access Line of the Lakeshore, Inc. (CALL) as the 2-1-1 community resource information and referral answering point for Mason and Oceana counties.
The abbreviated dialing number 2-1-1 has been designated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to enable callers to reach community resource and referral answering points.
Community Access Line of the Lakeshore, Inc., which was previously assigned 2-1-1 designation for 19 exchanges partly or wholly in Muskegon and Ottawa counties, is now also authorized to serve 11 exchanges that are partly or wholly in Mason and Oceana counties.
The 11 exchanges are: Carr, Fountain, Freesoil, Hart, Hesperia, Irons, Ludington, Manistee, Pentwater, Scottville, and Shelby.
CALL will provide operation of the 2-1-1 telephone number 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The Commission concluded that its approval is provisional, in part, due to the FCC's ability to recall the 2-1-1 number.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
