The Michigan Renewables Energy Program (MREP) will hold a wind energy committee meeting on Thursday, Oct. 23, in Cadillac.  The public is invited to attend.

The meeting will feature presentations on the Stoney Corners Wind Farm; Michigan's future as a wind energy manufacturing powerhouse; the ongoing Michigan wind energy transmission study; and a summary of Michigan's new energy laws.

The meeting will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Lake Superior Room of the Career Tech Center (on the Wexford-Missaukee ISD Campus), located at 9901 E. 13th St.

In addition, tours of the Stoney Corners Wind Farm will take place at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.  It is located on County Road 48, about five miles east of M-115.  Tourists should meet at the west-most turbine, using the access road on the south side of the road.

The Michigan Renewables Energy Program (MREP) was established by the legislature, and implemented by the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC), to promote the use of renewable energy in the state.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
