Contact:  Judy Palnau (517) 241-3323

October 21, 2008

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today said it is seeking public comments on the analysis and content of the decoupling report required by Section 97(4) of Public Act 295.

That section of the Act requires the Commission to submit a report on the potential rate impacts to all classes of customers if the electric providers whose rates are regulated by the commission decouple rates.  The report is to review whether decoupling would be cost-effective and would reduce the overall consumption of fossil fuels in Michigan.

Comments may be e-mailed to mpscedockets@michigan.gov .  Written comments should be mailed to the Executive Secretary, Michigan Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 30221, Lansing, MI 48909.  All comments should reference Case No. U-15898 and must be received by 5 p.m. on March 13, 2009.  All information submitted to the Commission in this matter will become public information, available on the Commission's Web site, and subject to disclosure.

All comments should be consistent with the provisions of Section 89(6) of Act 295.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
