MPSC Opens 25 Dockets to Assist in Orderly Implementation of New Energy Laws for Alternative Electric Suppliers

Contact:  Judy Palnau (517) 241-3323

October 21, 2008

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today issued 25 orders to assist in the orderly implementation of Michigan's new energy laws for the state's alternative electric suppliers (AESs) (Case Nos. U-15823 through U-15847).

"Because Michigan's new energy laws direct the MPSC to accomplish many regulatory actions within strict time limits, the Commission today is opening 25 dockets dealing with the implementation of Public Acts 286 and 295 for AESs," said MPSC Chairman Orjiakor Isiogu.  "The early opening of these dockets will assist in the orderly implementation of the new laws, and expedite the processing of the companies' future applications by the MPSC."

Today's orders direct each AES in Michigan to file requests to consolidate its case with that of another provider in the appropriate docket by Nov. 19.

The Commission encourages interested persons to submit public comments.  Written and electronic comments may be filed with the Commission at any time.  Written comments should be mailed to the Executive Secretary, Michigan Public Service Commission, P.O.
