Commissioner Steven Transeth of the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) has been elected vice president of the Organization of PJM States, Inc. (OPSI), effective
Jan. 1, 2009.
The purpose of OPSI is to maintain an organization of statutory regulatory agencies in the 13 states and the District of Columbia within which PJM Interconnection, LLC (PJM), a FERC-approved regional transmission operator (RTO), oversees the operation of the electric transmission grid and related services.
"Transmission of electricity is an important aspect of maintaining reliable electric service, and the PJM Interconnection provides that reliability to parts of southwestern Michigan," said Transeth. "I look forward to being a voice for Michigan on the OPSI team."
OPSI Member Regulatory Agencies' activities include, but are not limited to, coordinating activities such as data collection, issues analyses, and policy formulation related to PJM, its operations, its market monitor, and related FERC matters, as well as their individual roles as statutory regulators within their respective state boundaries.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
