MPSC Approves Settlement Agreements with Nine Electric Cooperatives Authorizing Them to Implement Their Renewable Energy, Energy Optimization Plans

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved settlement agreements with nine electric cooperatives, authorizing them to implement their renewable energy plans (REPs) energy optimization (EO) plans and surcharges, as required by Public Act 295.

The MPSC approved the REP plans for each of the electric cooperatives' cases mentioned below.  None of these electric cooperatives proposed to collect a REP surcharge at this time.

In Case No. U-15813, the MPSC approved the settlement with Alger Delta Cooperative Electric Association, authorizing it to implement its EO surcharge.  The average residential customer using 500 kilowatt-hours will see a monthly EO surcharge of $1.09.

In Case No. U-15815, the MPSC approved the settlement with Cherryland Electric Cooperative, authorizing it to implement its EO surcharge.  The average residential customer using 500 kilowatt-hours will see a monthly EO surcharge of 72 cents.

In Case No. U-15816, the MPSC approved the settlement with Cloverland Electric Cooperative, authorizing it to implement its EO surcharge.  The average residential customer using 500 kilowatt-hours will see a monthly EO surcharge of 70 cents.

In Case No. U-15817, the MPSC approved the settlement with Great Lakes Energy Cooperative, authorizing it to implement its EO surcharge.  The average residential customer using 500 kilowatt-hours will see a monthly EO surcharge of 79 cents.

In Case No. U-15818, the MPSC approved the settlement with Midwest Energy Cooperative, authorizing it to implement its EO surcharge.  The average residential customer using 500 kilowatt-hours will see a monthly EO surcharge of 65 cents.

In Case No. U-15819, the MPSC approved the settlement with Ontonagon County Rural Electrification Association, authorizing it to implement its EO surcharge.  The average residential customer using 500 kilowatt-hours will see a monthly EO surcharge of $1.21.

In Case No. U-15820, the MPSC approved the settlement with Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op, authorizing it to implement its EO surcharge.  The average residential customer using 500 kilowatt-hours will see a monthly surcharge of 82 cents.

In Case No. U-15821, the MPSC approved the settlement with Thumb Electric Cooperative, authorizing it to implement its EO surcharge.  The average residential customer using 500 kilowatt-hours will see a monthly EO surcharge of 67 cents.

In Case No. U-15822, the MPSC approved the settlement with Homeworks Tri-County Electric Cooperative, authorizing it to implement its EO surcharge.  The average residential customer using 500 kilowatt-hours will see a monthly surcharge of 75 cents.

All nine electric cooperatives are authorizing to implement their respective EO surcharges on July 1 and thereafter.

The electric cooperatives and the MPSC staff participated in the settlement proceedings.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth.
