The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved a settlement agreement authorizing Northern States Power Company's 2009-1010 gas cost recovery (GCR) plan and factors for the 12-month period ending March 31, 2010.

The approved settlement agreement authorizes the utility to implement a maximum GCR factor of $0.90730 per therm for the above mentioned period.  It is also authorized to adjust its GCR ceiling price on a quarterly basis using an approved capped contingency mechanism that may increase or decrease the GCR factor based on future gas price fluctuations.

The utility and the MPSC staff participated in the settlement proceedings.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth.
