November 7, 2002
The Michigan Public Service Commission today dismissed without prejudice, Champion Auto Ferry, Inc.'s application to increase the company's rates for tourists and commercial trucking ferry service. On October 1, 2002, Champion filed a request to increase the rates for tourists and commercial trucking by $1.00 per round trip, effective November 1, 2002. Champion's request would have yielded an increase of about $147,000 annually, or 9%. On October 3, 2002, the Commission issued an order suspending the effective date of the rate increase, pending a Commission investigation on whether the proposed rates are just and reasonable. On October 17, 2002, Champion filed a request to withdraw the proposed tariff.
