November 4, 2003
The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today grant Major Pipeline LLC the authority to construct and operate the Juniper Pipeline in Otsego County. Major Pipeline filed an application requesting authority to construct and operate the pipeline on Sept. 12, 2003.
The pipeline, consisting of a 4 ½ inch outer diameter line, will be approximately 1.6 miles long, extending from the OIL Energy, Inc., Central Production Facility located in Section 19, east to a point of interconnection with the Bagley 17 Production Facilities located in Section 17 (all in T30N, R3W) in Bagley Township. The pipeline will be used to transport natural gas to market by way of the existing gas transmission system.
In granting the company authority to construct and operate the pipeline, the MPSC found that the pipeline will serve the public convenience and necessity.
The pipeline will meet the requirements of the Michigan Gas Safety Standards if constructed, tested and operated as proposed. The company must file with the Commission, within 60 days after construction of the pipeline, a completion report that includes pressure test data and a map of the pipeline, as constructed. The Commission also directed the company to make the appropriate filings if, in the future, the pipelines are to be used to transport third-party natural gas.
Today’s order approves the map, route and type of construction of the Juniper Pipeline.
Major Pipeline is headquartered in Grand Rapids.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Consumer and Industry Services.
