Payments to Municipalities

The total amount of Metro Act revenue collected from telecom provider payments is deposited into a State of Michigan account.  This account is used solely for compensatory payments to eligible municipalities.
 
Payments are made in June each year to eligible municipalities.  To be eligible to receive these annual payments, municipalities:
 
1)   Must have opted in (Sec. 13) ; and
     
2)   If municipality has a population over 10,000, must have filed their Annual Report on the Use and Disposition of Funds Received Under PA 48 of 2002 for funds received in prior years.  (Sec. 10(5))  The annual report is due to the Metro Authority by April 30. 3)   Must be in compliance with statutory requirements (Sec.10(3)).
