petroleum

Michigan relies on petroleum products to meet about 1/3 of its energy needs. While gasoline prices are not regulated, the state does regulate the quality and quantity of the sales. This is the responsibility of the Motor Fuel Quality Program of the Department of Agriculture. The state also produces oil. For more information on oil wells in Michigan go to the Office of Geological Survey of the Department of Environmental Quality.
