MPSC Schedules Seven Consumer Forums around the State

Contact: Judy Palnau (517) 241-3323

August 25, 2011

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today announced that it will host a series of utility consumer information and assistance forums throughout Michigan from late September through early November.  The forums are designed to give consumers the latest information on electric and natural gas rates for the winter and the status of local and long distance telephone service.

"The main focus of each forum is helping utility customers," said MPSC Chairman Orjiakor Isiogu.  "They will be able to get their questions answered, and local utility service providers and assistance organizations will join with the MPSC to help customers on site with any problems they may be experiencing."

One of the MPSC's three commissioners will be available at each forum to discuss these issues, explain how the Commission makes decisions, and listen to questions and comments regarding utility service.
