AHA Individual Artist Survey This link leads to a research web survey that is continually being done. "The Association of Hispanic Arts seeks to learn about the needs of Latino artist in various stages of their career and to identify how to make resources and information available to them."

"ARTISTS ONE YEAR LATER: Survey of 9/11’s Economic Impact on Individual Artists in NYC" "The attacks of September 11 significantly impacted the arts and entertainment sector, causing far-reaching effects on the livelihoods of individual artists, both those self-employed and those employed by others." This is the report form that survey.

"Arts and Cultural Activities and the Michigan Economy" "This report offers an estimation of the importance of arts and cultural activities to Michigan’s economy...The importance of arts and cultural activities cannot be adequately measured merely in terms of jobs and income. They are a major component of the state’s quality of life... Still, the economic importance of arts and cultural activities should not be ignored...two separate concepts are used to measure the importance of arts and cultural activities and organizations to the state’s economy."

Arts & Economic Prosperity: The Economic Impact of Nonprofit Arts Organizations and Their Audiences This link leads to a study of the economic impact American nonprofit arts organizations and their audiences have on the communities and businesses that surround them.

"The Economic Benefit’s of Historic Preservation: Investing in Michigan’s Future" This article talks about "programs, such as the state and federal tax credits, that not only help to preserve the past, but also provide tangible economic benefits. They create jobs, reuse and improve existing infrastructure, attract reinvestment, and increase economic vitality throughout the entire state, from urban neighborhoods in Detroit to small towns in the Upper Peninsula."

"Estimating Economic Impacts of Michigan Museums" This is an article about a study Michigan State University conducted apropos the economic impacts of Michigan museums on the state and local economies. "Museums create economic impacts from their own operations (museum jobs and spending in the local community) as well as attracting visitors who spend money as tourists to the area."

Historic/Cultural Travel Market Overview This is an article about the executive summaries for the historic/cultural traveler 2003 edition.

"History and Culture Significant and Growing Part of the U.S. Travel Experience" This is an article of a study conducted by the Travel Industry Association of America (TIA) and Smithsonian Magazine in June 2003 which examined the "continued and growing interest in travelers’ desire to experience cultural, arts, historic and heritage activities.

" Jobs, the Arts and the Economy" "demonstrates that the arts are an industry – one that supports jobs, provides personal income, and generates significant revenue to the local, state, and federal government."

"Kalamazoo County Independent Artist and Non-Profit Arts Industry Economic Impact Study" This is the summary of key findings for 2000-2001 that was done for the Arts Industry in Kalamazoo county, Michigan.

"The Rebirth of Arts and Culture" This is a White Paper of the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs about "a dramatic shift in Western societal thought, which is changing the nature of the arts and culture industry, making it less ‘exotic’ and more central to daily experience."

"The Role of the Arts in Economic Development" This article is part of the Economic and Technology Studies done in June 2001. "Governors can position their states to use the arts effectively by promoting new partnerships among state agencies, communities, and the business sector and by harnessing the power of the arts and culture as tools that unite communities, create economic opportunity, and improve the quality of life."

"Unraveling Cultural Value" This article "seeks to unify two dimensions by providing a synergistic definition of cultural value, which is pertinent to cultural organizations, and offers a model of entrepreneurial cultural value balance for the audience, cultural organization and government."
