City of Hancock Granted $305,500 for Rental Rehabilitation
Hancock Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) Executive Director Keith Molin recently announced funding for $305,500 for rental rehabilitation in the city of Hancock. The funding for this project is available through HOME Targeted Revitalization Fund and will be administered by MSHDA's office of Community Development.
"The pride of Michigan is represented by each of our communities," said Molin. "The funding provided through these grants will allow communities like Hancock to grow and thrive and create new economic and job opportunities."
The city of Hancock will use grant funds for rental rehabilitation in their designated target neighborhood. The city of Hancock will rehabilitate six (6) homeowner rehabilitation units and nine (9) rental rehabilitation units in a target area near downtown and Finlandia University. The program is a continuation of work previously done in the neighborhood
MSHDA's vision in the 21st century is to improve the quality of life for all Michigan residents and create vibrant communities by focusing on providing safe, affordable housing through homeownership and rental programs; ending homelessness; and revitalizing neighborhoods and downtowns. MSHDA's loans and operating expenses are financed through the sale of tax-exempt and taxable bonds and notes to private investors, not from state tax revenues.
