Bridgman Post Trooper Receives Lifesaving Award - Trooper Timothy Gean LANSINGAt a special ceremony today in Lansing, Michigan State Police (MSP) Director Colonel Peter C. Munoz presented Trooper Timothy Gean of the Bridgman Post with the MSP Lifesaving Award.  He is credited with performing significant actions resulting in the saving of a life.

On Jan. 3, 2009, Gean was dispatched to a scene where a victim was in cardiac arrest.  Upon arrival, Gean observed an off-duty officer performing CPR to no avail.  Gean utilized an automated external defibrillator on the victim and after several cycles of CPR and defibrillation, the victim regained a pulse and started breathing on her own.

Upon reviewing the circumstances of this incident, the MSP Board of Awards concluded Gean's quick actions and knowledge of first aid techniques saved the woman's life.

Gean enlisted with the department in 1995, and graduated as a member of the 111th Trooper Recruit School.  Upon graduation, he was assigned to the Bridgman Post.  In 1998, Gean received the MSP Lifesaving Award for his actions responding to a subject in cardiac arrest.  A native of Fenton, Gean attended Northern Michigan University and is a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He currently resides in St. Joseph.
