December 22, 2009 - Official Statement: Recalled Troopers - Post Locations Announced; Recall Number Increased by 3 due to More Grant Funds

As announced last week, 28 laid-off Michigan State Police (MSP) troopers will be recalled effective Jan. 11, 2010, using federal funds available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).  The MSP has also determined three more laid-off troopers can be recalled using funding awarded to the department earlier this month in the annual Byrne Justice Assistance Grant program.  These troopers were recalled based on seniority and will also return to work on Jan. 11, 2010.

This second wave of recalled troopers are returning to the following work sites:

First District

Sixth District

Ithaca Post - 1

Wayland Post - 1

Corunna Post - 1

 

Jackson Post - 1

Seventh District

 

Alpena Post - 1

Second District

Houghton Lake Post - 1

Richmond Post - 1

Cadillac Post - 1

Groveland Post - 2

Kalkaska Post - 1

Monroe Post - 1

 

 

Eighth District

Third District

Newberry Post - 1

Bad Axe Post - 1

Manistique Post - 1

Flint Post - 1

Wakefield Post - 2

West Branch Post - 1

Calumet Post - 1

Bridgeport Post - 1

The addition of these troopers brings at-post trooper staffing to 1,029 troopers.

Fifty-five troopers previously returned to work on Nov. 16, 2009; one trooper waived his/her contractual rights of recall and three probationary troopers have been separated from the department.  Of the 100 total troopers laid off on June 28, 2009, ten troopers currently remain on layoff.
