Niles State Police Cold Case Homicide Investigations: Do You Have Information?

53-2024-75/Janice Kay Sanders

Janice Sanders was last employed as a waitress at Pete's Patio Restaurant in the city of Niles and was last seen leaving this location during the late evening hours of July 20, 1975. The last person to have seen Janice Sanders alive was her estranged boyfriend, Jerry Liebertowski, with whom she had just broken off the relationship. On July 21,1975, Janice Kay Sanders was reported missing by a family member. On August 5, 1975, a vehicle registered to the now missing Janice Sanders was located in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn located at 930 S. Eleventh Street, Niles. Janice Sanders was 25 years old at the time of her disappearance and she has never been located. This case remains in the Inactive Status.

 

53-615-87/Roxanne Wood

On February 20, 1987, Roxanne Leigh Wood was found by her husband, Terry Wood, murdered in the kitchen of their home at 1524 Tam-O-Shanter in Niles Township, Berrien County. Roxanne Wood's throat had been cut while she lay on the kitchen floor. This investigation continued until 1991, when it was placed into the Inactive Status. In April 2001, the 5th District Cold Case Team re-opened the investigation which continued for four months.Terry Wood was never eliminated as a suspect and remains a person of interest. Roxanne Wood was 31 years old at the time of her death. This case remains in the Open Status.

53-3678-05/Shirley Pullen

The Michigan State Police, Niles Post, have reopened a 1987 Missing Person Investigation of a Niles Township resident. The investigation will involve detectives from the Michigan State Police and the Berrien County Sheriff's Department.

Shirley Pullen was last seen alive during the evening hours of December 31, 1986 while at the Save Mart grocery store in Niles Township. The Niles Township Police Department originally initiated a Missing Person Investigation when they were called to the Shirley Pullen residence, 1950 S. 13th Street (Windward Village, now known as Franklin Woods), Lot #152, Niles Township, Michigan. At the time of her disappearance, Shirley Pullen was 70 years old, about 5'05", and 150 lbs, with blue eyes. She was known to wear a blond wig at all times when she went out.
