LANSING. Michigan State Police (MSP) Director Col. Peter C. Munoz is pleased to announce that Tpr. Randal Danison of the L'Anse Post is the recipient of the MSP Lifesaving Award.
On Aug. 24, 2009, Danison responded to a report that a male was suffering a possible heart attack. Upon arrival, he immediately began administering first aid and was soon assisted by a nurse and the Chief of the L'Anse Police Department. After an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) was used to administer several shocks, the man's heart began to beat again. The man was then transported to the hospital.
Upon reviewing the circumstances of this incident, the MSP Board of Awards concluded Danison's quick actions and knowledge of first aid techniques helped extend the man's life.
Danison enlisted with the department in 1995, graduating as a member of the 112th Trooper Recruit School. After graduation he was assigned to the L'Anse Post.
