Police Release Facial Reconstruction of Corpse Found in Funeral Home

June 1, 2006
DETROIT. At a press conference today, the Michigan State Police (MSP) and the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office (WCMEO) released a facial reconstruction of an unidentified male found at a vacant funeral home in Detroit. Anyone with information about the identity of this individual is asked to call the WCMEO at (313) 833-2504 or the MSP Detroit Post at (313) 456-6600.

The unidentified body was found at the vacant Pope Funeral home at 8508 Plymouth Rd. in Detroit on Aug. 25, 2005, by officers from the Detroit Police Department. A second corpse found at the funeral home has already been identified by family members.

A Forensic Anthropologist from Michigan State University determined the unidentified body is that of an elderly black male, approximately 5’4” to 5’6”, with a white moustache and sideburns. He did not have teeth at the time of death and possibly wore dentures. This individual also suffered a broken nose earlier in life. It is believed he died from natural causes.

The body was found in a tan or bronze casket and the individual was dressed in a dark gray, pin-stripped suit with a white shirt and black tie. No other personal effects were found with the body.

Photos of this reconstruction and other unidentified human remains can be found on the MSP Web site at www.michigan.gov/forensic_artists.
