NEWS RELEASE

February 6, 2007

EAST LANSING.  The Michigan State Police (MSP) is pleased to announce Specialist Sergeant James McCloughan of the Grayling Forensic Science Laboratory received the first annual David L. Motsinger Horizon Award from the American Polygraph Association (APA) for his accomplishments in the polygraph profession.

The award was presented at the Annual American Polygraph Association Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2006.  The David L. Motsinger Horizon Award recognizes individuals with less than 10 years of experience or as a member of the APA who, early in their career, demonstrate loyalty, professionalism and dedication to the polygraph profession.

McCloughan joined the department in 1994, and graduated as a member of the 110th Trooper Recruit School.  After graduation, he was assigned to the Flint Post.  In 2000, he was appointed to the Grayling Forensic Science Laboratory where he continues to serve as a polygraph examiner.

A native of South Haven, McCloughan holds a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University.
