May 8, 2008 - MSP Offering Defensive Driving Class For Teens

Contact:  Sergeant Keith Wilson, MSP Precision Driving Unit, (517) 322-5174

Parents looking to improve the driving skills of a teenage driver can now send their teen to learn from the world-renowned experts in the Michigan State Police (MSP) Precision Driving Unit.

The Teen Defensive Driving Program, presented by the MSP, debuted in December 2007.  It is an eight-hour course that uses classroom and hands-on training to teach participants skid control, evasive maneuvering, controlled braking and emergency off-road recovery.  Class size is limited to 15 students per session to allow for a three-to-one student to instructor ratio.

Interested teens can attend one of four sessions, June 18, June 19, August 6 or August 7, at the MSP Training Academy in Lansing.  Participants must have a Level 2 Intermediate License under the Michigan Graduated Driver Licensing program.  Tuition is $100.

To reserve a spot, contact the MSP Precision Driving Unit at (517) 322-5174.
