               and Michigan State University (MSU)

When:     Wednesday, June 25, 2008

               Buildings: 1412, 1413 and 1414

The MSP Training Academy and MSU School of Criminal Justice will host homicide scene preservation and investigation training for law enforcement officers from across the state.  Veteran detectives and forensic scientists will provide new detectives with instruction regarding the different types of crime scene investigations.  Officers will also participate in mock crime scene scenarios to practice their skills in crime scene preservation, evidence collection, homicide investigation and media relations.

The media is invited to attend the scenario portion to take photographs and video of detectives processing the mock crime scenes.  Students and instructors will also be available for interviews.  This can be an excellent opportunity for newer reporters to learn how to cover crime scenes.  A list of the departments with officers attending the school is attached.
