TAYLOR. Detectives from the Michigan State Police (MSP) have arrested two individuals on charges authorized by the Michigan Attorney General's Office in connection with an investigation into allegations of fraud in the petition for the recall of Michigan House Speaker, Andy Dillon. The investigation has been underway since May 2008.
Michael Bastianelli, age 28 of Westland, was arrested on Dec. 22, 2009, at 8:20 a.m. at the MSP Metro South Post. He was arraigned at 10 a.m. in the 16th District Court of Livonia on two felony counts: Uttering and Publishing and Election Law - Recall Petitions - False Statements.
Harvey Robinson, age 39 of Redford, was arrested at the MSP Metro South Post on Dec. 22, 2009, at 4 p.m. He was arraigned this morning at 10 a.m. in the 16th District Court of Livonia on two felony counts: Uttering and Publishing and Election Law - Recall Petitions - False Statements.
Both men were released on a $20,000 personal bond. Preliminary exams were set for Jan. 5, 2010.
