LANSING - The Michigan State Police has announced the promotion of D/Sgt. William B. Kanouse to First Lieutenant and commander of the Jonesville Post in Hillsdale County.
As commander of the Jonesville Post, Kanouse is responsible for providing leadership in the daily activities of the three sergeants,
16 troopers, one detective and one motor carrier officer assigned to the post. The Jonesville Post investigated 4,037 complaints last year.
F/Lieutenant Kanouse began his career with the department in 1973 as a radio operator assigned to the Genesee County Central Dispatch. Kanouse enlisted with the department in March of 1975 and graduated as a member of the 89th Recruit School. In his 27-year career, he has served at the Owosso Post, Flat Rock Post, Southeastern Criminal Investigation Division, and the Jonesville Post. Kanouse has held the ranks of uniform trooper, detective trooper, detective sergeant, and uniform desk sergeant.
Kanouse holds a diploma in a two-year course of Applied Electronic Technology from the National Institute of Technology. A native of Ionia, he and his wife, Julie, currently live in Camden, Michigan with their son Eric.
