The Michigan State Police continue the investigation into the homicide of Tpr. Kevin Marshal and the resulting shooting death of the suspect Scott Woodring. No new evidence or information has been discovered since Monday, July 14, 2003. Currently, physical evidence is being examined at state police crime laboratories in Grand Rapids and Lansing. The weapons recovered from Scott Woodring and from his home are being traced by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in an attempt to determine the history of those weapons.

Following completion of the investigation it will be presented to the Newaygo County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
