In October 1994, the
Michigan State Police and Alcona County Sheriff personnel recovered the
skeletonized remains of an adult female. The remains which were found in Curtis
Township, MI appear to have been at the site for 1 to 4 years. Several old
injuries are apparent on the remains. Two vertebrae, one from the upper and one
from the lower thoracic region (behind the rib cage) are collapsed and a healed
fracture is evident on the left arm just above the elbow. These injuries all
occurred years before the woman died. They may be unrelated or they may reflect
a single incident, like an automobile accident.
