In 1998, the remains of a white female were
recovered by the Muskegon Police Department. The skull at the murder scene was
eventually forensically examined and determined to be that of a white female in
her late 30's. Detective Emilio Trejo was the investigating officer from the
Muskegon Police Department. Detective Trejo had heard about the Michigan State
Police Forensic Art Program and contacted Tpr. Fernando Martinez, forensic
artist assigned to the Michigan State Police Lansing Post.
Tpr. Fernando Martinez took the skull and
rendered a two dimensional facial reconstruction of the "Jane Doe". This drawing
was disseminated in the Muskegon area. Parole officer, David Pierce, for the
Adult Probation/Parole Office in Muskegon saw the composite sketch and
recognized her as a current absconder from his facility. Parole officer Pierce
knew Currie was missing her front two maxillary teeth. He contacted Detective
Trejo and identified her as Wendy Currie, white female, birth date 01-20-60.
Wendy had failed to report for her court ordered weekly meetings. A "D.N.A."
analysis positively identified the human remains as being Wendy Currie.
This on-going homicide investigation began
looking in Currie's ex-boyfriend's direction and a murder warrant was authorized
in 2003 for Michael Anderson.
On September 26, 2003 - Michael Lynn Anderson,
black male, birth date 09-10-1963, was arrested for the murder of Wendy Currie.
He is currently in the Muskegon County Jail awaiting trial.
