About the Conference
The 2010 Great Lakes Homeland Security Training Conference and Expo was held May 4-6 at the DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The conference brought together more than 1,200 emergency management and homeland security partners from all levels of government and the private sector, who attended training workshops and networked with exhibitors.
Focusing on "A Community Prepared," the conference provided a diverse line-up of topics, including preventing school shootings, impact of H1N1, international security threats, crisis communications, disaster preparedness, and cyber security.
Attendees also had an opportunity to hear from keynote speakers Gen. Peter Pace, Ret., U.S. Marine Corps; Dr. Richard Hunt, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control; Mark Giuliano, FBI- Counter Terrorism Division; Amotz Brandes, Chameleon Associates; and Gen. Barry McCaffrey, Ret., U.S. Army.
More than 50 exhibitorswere present who showcased their products and services related to homeland security, emergency management, preparedness, and response. This conference served as an excellent opportunity for companies to connect and build long-term relationships with homeland security and emergency management professionals statewide. The valuable services and products offered by the exhibitors was instrumental in helping to enhance Michigan's preparedness and response capabilities.
