Community Service Troopers
Michigan State Police (MSP) Community Service Troopers (CSTs) are assigned to regions across the state to focus on community outreach to help strengthen communities. They serve citizens in a range of ways, including mentoring youth, working with seniors, educating citizens on emerging crime trends and focusing on community service and training. CSTs also work with other police agencies to help strengthen law enforcement. Twenty-one of 23 CSTs are funded by an Office of Community-Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) hiring grant.

2012 CST Activity Highlights
- Presented Teaching, Educating and Mentoring (T.E.A.M.) curriculum to more than 56,000 elementary, junior high and high school students.
- Provided Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training to more than 1,200 residents.
- Met with more than 2,000 local businesses and non-profit organizations
- Formed 519 new collaborative partnerships.
- Provided 918 crime prevention or safety presentations to community groups.
- Held more than 1,200 meetings with local law enforcement partners.
