News Release No. 1 – January 9, 2015 – 2 p.m.
LANSING, Mich. – The state of Michigan today activated the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) due to a severe multi-vehicle crash and hazardous material incident on Interstate 94 between mile markers 88 and 92 in Kalamazoo County.
The Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD) is currently working with local emergency management officials to ensure communities have resources during the incident. No requests for state assistance have been received at this time.
The SEOC was activated at 12:30 p.m. SEOC personnel are monitoring the situation in collaboration with state agencies and local officials.
The SEOC is the emergency operations center for the state of Michigan. Located in Lansing, the SEOC is overseen by the MSP/EMHSD and coordinates response and recovery efforts by state agencies and local government. The SEOC is staffed by members of state agencies for decision making and information coordination during disasters or emergencies in the state of Michigan.
