Outdoor Attractions in the Detroit Area

Rich with history and natural beauty, Michigan’s 102nd state park is a Detroit gem. This 985-acre island park is on the Detroit River between the United States and Canada.
Belle Isle is home to a variety of attractions, including

- a conservatory,
- a maritime museum,
- a giant slide,
- a nature zoo,
- and the James Scott Memorial Fountain.
The park offers many recreational options, including

William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor
This 31-acre state park was the first urban state park in Michigan. It is across the street from the Outdoor Adventure Center.
The park is green oasis in the heart of the downtown Detroit. It showcases natural resources collected throughout Michigan's state parks. Features include
- a wetland area,
- learning stations,
- a lighthouse.
It also includes
- places for visitors to picnic,
- walk along the Detroit Riverwalk,
- and fish from the shoreline.
