In an attempt to create a culture in which our employees are engaged, empowered, and recognized for their contributions, the Office of Good Government has surveyed all 47,000 employees on a regular basis. The 2012 survey provided a baseline; the 2013 survey allowed us to see what impact the action plans had on employees’ views of leadership and communication, as well as engagement; and the 2015 survey told us we are changing the culture at the State of Michigan. In the recent 2017 Employee Survey, we assessed how well we have maintained that momentum and where we need to make further improvements.
- 2017 Engagement Dashboard
- Employee Participation at an all-time high at 76%, up by almost 20% since the start of the survey in 2012
- Reached the Services Industry benchmark for employee engagement for the first time
- 55 out of 57 survey items improved in favorability from 2015
