Purchasing with a Plan-to-Plan Transfer and a TDP

Glossary of Terms

You can combine methods of payment to purchase service credit. However, if you plan to purchase some service credit using a plan-to-plan transfer and some through tax-deferred payment (TDP) deductions, complete the transfer before you enter into a TDP agreement. The TDP agreement can only be for the remaining service credit after the transfer is complete.

If you are terminating or retiring before your TDP agreement is paid in full, you may be able to apply a plan-to-plan transfer to your TDP balance.
