The new Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) rules became effective January 16, 2009 and include the new military family leave entitlements of military caregiver leave and qualifying exigency leave. Departments may find the US Department of Labor materials explaining the changes to be useful in implementing the provisions of the federal Family and Medical Leave Act.
