Management and Work Unit Consultations
ESP Counselors consult with employees, supervisor, union representatives and human resources staff about issues that affect a work unit. The goal of these consultations is to maintain a productive and positive work environment. When consulting on these issues, ESP counselors utilize the following three steps:
1. Clarify the issues: Confidentially discuss the concerns with the various individuals and/or groups involved.
2. Identify options: Steps that could be considered by those involved.
3. Develop a plan: ESP will provide a set of recommendations, based on steps 1 & 2.
Consultations with managers and supervisors are provided with a primary focus on developing approaches for effectively handling workplace challenges, including information on how to refer an employee for Employee Service Program services.
