The Porcupine Mountains Visitor Center has reopened after a major park enhancement project. Visitors can now enjoy new accessible features, restrooms and much more, all designed to improve your park experience. A proposed $5.625 million in federal relief funding from Gov. Whitmer's Building Michigan Together Plan made these and other renovations possible.

The Porcupine Mountains Visitor Center, located in Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, introduces visitors to the rich wilderness heritage of this 60,000-acre park. Set alongside the largest old-growth, hardwood-hemlock forest in the Great Lakes region, the center features exhibits and programs that tell the story of Michigan's rugged Upper Peninsula.
Interpretive programs and activities are typically held from mid-June to early October, and from end of December through February.
Porcupine Mountains Visitor Center offers a variety of field trip opportunities and school programs.
Grants may be available to help you bring your classroom to the Porkies through the Friends of the Porkies group.
