Michigan Promotes Economic Opportunity to Combat Poverty

Governor Jennifer Granholm Michigan has one of the most aggressive economic plans in the nation that transforms the state's focus from an automotive manufacturing to a more diverse economy.

Gov. Granholm's plan Creating Opportunity in a Changing World Diversifying our Economy, Educating our People positions Michigan as a leader in the national fight against poverty.

Michigan was recognized in April 2008 by the Center for Law and Social Policy for its aggressive approach to tackling poverty and its long-term focus on education and economic development
