Total Funding Available: $60 million
Key Dates: Applications Due: May 29, 2009
Program Information: The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has established a new program entitled Research and Research Infrastructure "Grand Opportunities" or the "GO" grants program. This program will support projects that address large, specific biomedical and bio-behavioral research endeavors.
Grant Information: Recovery Act funds will support biomedical and bio-behavioral research that will benefit from significant 2-year funding without the expectation of continued NIH funding beyond two years. The research supported by the "GO" grants program should have high short-term impact, and a high likelihood of enabling growth and investment in biomedical research and development, public health, and health care delivery. The initiative seeks novel approaches in areas that address specific knowledge gaps, scientific opportunities, new technologies, data generation, or research methods that would benefit from an influx of funds to quickly advance the area in significant ways. Applicants may propose to address either a specific research question or propose the creation of a unique infrastructure/resource designed to accelerate scientific progress in the future.
Small businesses, nonprofits, institutions of higher education, state and local governments all are eligible to apply.
