Welcome to Michigan's online source for information about the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act). The Recovery Act, signed into law by President Barack Obama on February 17, 2009, represents the largest federal investment increase in America's roads, bridges and mass transit in 50 years. It also provides the most significant expansion in tax cuts for low and moderate income households ever. This aggressive economic recovery plan is designed to jumpstart our economy, create jobs, and help Americans struggling to provide for their families.

Green Capacity Building Grants - GRANT CLOSED

Total Funding Available: $5 million

Key Dates: Applications Due: August 5, 2009; 4 p.m. EST

Program Information: Department of Labor-administered to fund projects that build the capacity of DOL-funded training programs to ensure that targeted groups are prepared to meet the needs of our country's expanding green industries.

Grant Information: In an effort to lead program participants to job placement and promote economic growth, grants will be awarded to workforce development projects that focus on connecting target populations, including auto and auto-related industry workers affected by significant automotive-related restructurings, to career pathways in green industries.  Applicants may propose strategies that train for those occupations from among the following industries: Transportation, green construction, environmental protection, sustainable agriculture including health food production, forestry, and recycling and waste reduction.

Grant proposals will be evaluated on each of the three separate and distinct parts:

  • Cost proposal
  • Technical proposal
  • Attachments to the technical proposal

Applications that fail to adhere to these requirements will be considered non-responsive and will not be considered.
