The Recovery Act, signed into law by President Barack Obama on February 17, 2009, represents the largest federal investment increase in America's roads, bridges and mass transit in 50 years. It also provides the most significant expansion in tax cuts for low and moderate income households ever. This aggressive economic recovery plan is designed to jumpstart our economy, create jobs, and help Americans struggling to provide for their families.

Impact Aid Discretionary Construction Program Grants - GRANT CLOSED

Program & Grant Information: The U.S. Department of Education's Impact Aid Discretionary Construction Program provides grants for emergency repairs and modernization of school facilities to certain local educational agencies (LEA).  The Recovery Act provides additional funds for emergency grants to repair, renovate, or alter a public elementary or secondary school facility to ensure the health, safety, and well being of students and school personnel.  Priority will be given to emergency projects, and projects that can be completed within 24 months of receiving awards.  An LEA is eligible to receive a grant under this competition if the LEA timely submitted an application eligible for funding under either Section 8002 (Payments for Federal Property) or Section 8003 (Basic Support Payments) for FY 2008; and has a total assessed value of real property available that may be taxed for school purposes of less than $100 million, or has an average assessed value per pupil that is less than the State average assessed value per pupil.
