Snyder appoints members to Board of Counseling

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Ramsey Jiddou and Luellen Ramey to the Michigan Board of Counseling.

The board licenses and oversees the practice of counseling in Michigan.

"I am confident these individuals will help this board provide the necessary oversight to the practice of counseling in Michigan," Snyder said.

Jiddou, of Plymouth, is the owner and president of Jiddou Consulting. His professional experience includes developing Dixboro Village Shoppes and owning and operating Superior Food Mart. He previously served as director of Business Development for Biotherapies Inc. and as a senior chemist for the Detroit Water and Sewage Department. Jiddou earned a bachelor's and master's degree in chemistry from Rheinisch Westfaelische in Aachen, Germany and a doctorate in natural science from the University of Dortmund in Germany. He will represent the general public and replaces Mary Lynne Kelley. 

Ramey, of Rochester Hills, is an associate professor in the Department of Counseling at Oakland University and serves as chair of the department. She earned a bachelor's degree in audiology and speech pathology from Purdue University. She earned a master's degree in psychological foundations of education, an educational specialist degree in counselor education and a doctorate in counselor education, all from the University of Florida. Ramey will represent individuals providing counseling techniques, behavior modification techniques or preventative techniques to clients and replaces Robbie Steward.

Ramey and Jiddou will serve the remainder of four-year terms expiring Dec. 30, 2013. The appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
