Snyder makes appointments to Indiana-Michigan Boundary Line Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced five appointments to the newly created Indiana-Michigan Boundary Line Commission. 

The commission was created to administer a survey and remonumentation of the Indiana-Michigan border. The 10-member board includes surveyors from both Michigan and Indiana. 

“I look forward to working with our partners from Indiana on this important project,” Snyder said. “I appreciate the willingness of these strong candidates to represent our state.” 

John Kamer, of Eau Claire, has served as the Berrien County surveyor since 2000. He is also a surveyor with Wightman & Associates, where he has worked since 1975. His career has focused on land and construction surveying, including cadastral surveys, boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographical surveys, route surveying and the design, layout and inspection of subdivisions, condominiums, streets, and bridges. He holds a bachelor’s degree in surveying from Ferris State University. Kamer will serve as the surveyor from Berrien County. 

Michael Lodzinski, of Cement City, is the Hillsdale County surveyor, a position he has held since 2005. He is also the owner of Lodzinski & Associates, where he operates his own surveying company. Previously, he was survey crew chief and survey department manager for Feller, Finch & Associates. Lodzinski holds a bachelor’s degree in surveying from The Ohio State University. He will serve as the surveyor from Hillsdale County. 

Chris Marbach, of Edwardsburg, is a licensed professional surveyor in both Michigan and Indiana and is the president of Marbach, Brady & Weaver. He has previous experience with Brady Land Surveying and Sellers, Dubroc and Associates Inc. He has surveying experience with boundary surveys, topographic surveys, land title surveys, route surveys, and a number of other surveying techniques. Marbach holds a bachelor’s degree in land surveying engineering from Purdue University. He will serve as the surveyor from Cass County. 

David Mostrom, of Sturgis, is vice president of Mostrom & Associates Inc., where he started as a field crew chief and has more than 20 years of experience with many different types of surveys. Mostrom holds a bachelor’s degree in land surveying from Ferris State University. He will serve as the surveyor from St. Joseph County. 

Edward Reed, of Quincy, is owner of Reed & Associates Land Surveyors. He has served on his township planning board, as township assessor and as Branch County Land Surveyor. He holds an associate degree in engineering from Tri State University. Reed will serve as the surveyor from Branch County. 

Members serve terms expiring at the pleasure of the governor and the appointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.
