Saturday, March 24, 2012: Medical Billers' Day
WHEREAS, medical billers and coders play a vital role in the medical reimbursement process as they communicate between medical offices and insurance companies to ensure proper processing of payment, which benefits the insurance company, medical office and the patient; and,
WHEREAS, medical billers are trained and certified professionals that must comply with many state and federal regulations to perform their job duties; and,
WHEREAS, the American Academy of Certified Coders and the Michigan Medical Billers Association both work to support and promote the educational and professional advancement of medical billers and coders in Michigan and abroad; and,
WHEREAS, on this day, we recognize Michigan's medical billers and encourage citizens throughout the state to learn more about this profession, which provides a critical service in the state's health-care system;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim Saturday, March 24, 2012 as Medical Billers' Day in Michigan.
