Governor Rick Snyder of Michigan
WHEREAS, Michigan's Medicaid program covers long-term care benefits including nursing facility services, home- and community-based waiver services, personal care services, private duty nursing and hospice; and,
WHEREAS, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of citizens age 65 and older increased at a faster rate than the total U.S. population between 2000 and 2010; in Michigan, citizens age 60 and older represent nearly 20 percent of the total population; and,
WHEREAS, as Michigan's aging population grows at an unprecedented rate and continues to live longer than at any time in our history, we raise awareness of long-term care matters in Michigan and encourage citizens to recognize the importance of planning for future health care needs;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim November 2012 as Long-Term Care Awareness Month in Michigan.
