Governor Rick Snyder of Michigan
Monday, March 12, 2018
LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the dates for a special election in the 2nd District of the Michigan Senate to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Bert Johnson.
“The timing of this special election gives residents of the 2nd District an appropriate amount of time to research and decide on who their senator should be while reducing the financial burden on taxpayers for the cost,” Gov. Snyder said.
A special primary election to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the term will be held on Aug. 7, 2018. The general election will be held on Nov. 6, 2018.
Candidates wishing to be on the Aug. 7 primary ballot must file by April 24, 2018, at 4 p.m. For additional information and other relevant dates for this special election, see the attached letter filed with the Secretary of State’s office.
