Bridge closure expected for annual International Bridge walk

Contact:  Phil Becker, International Bridge Administration, 906-635-5255, ext. 112
Agency: Transportation

June 24, 2009 -- The Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic for 30 minutes from 9:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, for the annual bridge walk.

Completion of work to rehabilitate a portion of the roadway deck in the vicinity of the Canadian Arch Truss on the International Bridge, originally expected to be done by June 26, has been delayed. The closure is needed to allow the walkers in this year's annual bridge walk to use the single open lane through the 1,000-feet-long construction zone near the Canadian end of the bridge.

Bridge users are asked to plan their cross-border travels accordingly.
