June 25, 2009

Muskallonge Lake State Park is seeking vendors for its 2nd Annual "Rock On With Lake Superior Agates" event scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19.

This is rock show dedicated to Lake Superior agate collectors and enthusiasts. Vendors interested in buying, selling, or trading their collections are welcome. Come out and view collections, show off your collections, and learn about Lake Superior agates.

"Many of our park guests have a special interest in Lake Superior agates. The park offers great access to Lake Superior for agate enthusiasts," said DNR Park Supervisor Jim Dzelak. "Last year's show was a great success. Although we already have vendors signing up for this event, we would like to expand this opportunity to agate collectors and build on this event every year."

Muskallonge Lake State Park is located at 30042 County Road 407, approximately 28 miles northwest of Newberry. For information about the show, how to become a vendor, the park, accessibility, or persons needing accommodations to participate in this show, contact the park supervisor at (906) 658-3338 (TTY/TDD 711 Michigan Relay Center for the hearing impaired), or visit www.michigan.gov/muskallonge.

Vendors or park visitors who may be interested in camping for this event, camping reservations can be made online at www.midnrreservations.com, or by calling the DNR central reservation system at 800-447-2757.

All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the park entrance. Cost is $24 for a resident annual and $6 for a resident daily. A nonresident annual is $29 and a nonresident daily is $8.

Join the DNR in celebrating the 90th anniversary of Michigan State Parks (1919-2009) this year. Events are being posted at www.michigan.gov/dnrgogetoutdoors.

The DNR is committed to the conservation, protection, management, use and enjoyment of the state's natural resources
for current and future generations.
