Construction begins soon on US-23 in Livingston County

END DATE: Early September 2009

PROJECT: Starting this coming weekend, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will oversee improvements to US-23 between the CSX Railroad, just south of I-96, north to M-59. The project involves milling and resurfacing 8.3 miles of roadway, along with ramp resurfacing at the I-96/US-23 interchange. The project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: During construction, one lane will be maintained in each direction on US-23 at all times. Work is expected to start first on northbound US-23, before switching to the southbound lanes. Crews will work around-the-clock, seven days a week as part of this project.

Lane closures will be at a maximum 3 miles in length.
