The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved revised stranded cost recovery surcharges for Consumers Energy Company electric choice (retail open access) customers and bundled commercial and industrial customers. The revised surcharges do not affect residential customers.
Public Act 286 authorizes the MPSC to adjust the surcharge to ensure that full recovery of the stranded cost balance is achieved by Oct. 6, 2013.
Because of the recent slump in choice sales and the mandates of Public Act 286 of 2008, surcharges must be increased.
Electric choice and bundled commercial and industrial customers will see a surcharge increase of 0.000900 per kilowatt-hour.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth.
